Just recently, my little old man, Ringo passed and I miss him terribly. He was a Shih Tzu we adopted after my husband almost hit him when he ran out into the road. The shelter named him Ringo Starr as he had quite the mop-top and the name stuck. He was with us for nearly 16 years and was roughly 18 years old. A wonderfully lazy pup, who would auto-pee and the slightest hint of thunder and loved to seek me out, so that he could pass gas while laying at my feet.
The Dog of my childhood, Cindy (short for Cinderella) was a black lab/German Shepard mix, who only showed energy when arriving back to our block, when out for a walk. I'd have to let go of the leash b/c she could not be held back from her desire to return home as soon as possible. A dog who would eat anything, including flies, and couldn't help but pee when she was excited.
Currently, we are without a pup. Maybe in the future, but in the meantime, there are always fictional furballs. August is National Dog month with the 1st being DOGust the Universal Birthday for Shelter Dogs. In honor of the shelter pups, in need of love, here's a list of books celebrating man's best friend.
