It's getting to be that time of year when you pull out the recipe book/box, full of ambition, holiday spirit, and optimism, as you embark on a holiday baking extravaganza. It starts with the list of favorites at my house this means thumbprints, gingersnaps, my grandmother's sliced cookies, and what will seem like 5.000 chocolate chips. In fact, the thumbprints, gingersnaps, and slice cookies, that's just me that wants those; my family, however, thinks the world of cookies begins and ends with chocolate chips. Other years your energy wains, two batches in, every batch comes out at a different degree of done, and the pain is tremendous. Still, you try and if it's a bad year, then you just make those rum-balls stronger.
