According to The Fact Site, October 13th is World Zombie Day. A day where several cities across the globe will be home to "Zombie Walks" However, in Elgin, IL The Zombie Defense Initiative will host Nightmare on Chicago Street. Also, awarenessdays.com says that May is Zombie Awareness Month.
A big part of Zombie Awareness is preparation. One of the first things you'll find listed as you scroll through Google results of a "Zombie Survival Plan" is Water. The recommendation for any emergency is to ensure that you have a gallon of water for each day. I imagine that this could be a struggle in an apocalyptic situation with no end in sight. Other recommendations include non-perishable food items, medication, sanitary and hygiene items, and of course weapons. It is also suggested that people avoid areas such as cities, sewers, elevators, alleys, prisons, and apparently, Rhode Island.
