May the 4th Be With You

In the near present future in the galaxy of our own

STAR WARS

May the Fourth

Be With You!

As the day of the Fourth approaches, we are compelled to act, and embrace the knowledge of the rebellion against the empire that takes place, "in a galaxy far far away."

The Breadth and Depth of the Star Wars fandom spans greatly across time and space. The characters involved, given voice by a multitude of authors, have intricate histories, that work to shape the varied roles they will play.

In Movies, Television, and Literature, the stories of rebellion unfold, and it is up to us to decide which side we root for, the rebels or the empire, and whether or not we really want to taste the dark side's cookies.

Formerly titled Star wars: from the adventures of Luke Skywalker and written in 1976, Star Wars: A New Hope is the novel that started it all.

Luke Skywalker lived and worked on his uncle's farm on the remote planet of Tatooine--and he was bored beyond belief. He yearned for adventures out among the stars, adventures that would take him beyond the farthest galaxies to distant and alien worlds.

But Luke gets more than he bargained for when he intercepts a cryptic message from a beautiful princess held captive by a dark and powerful warlord. Luke doesn't know who she is, but he knows he has to save her--and soon, because time is running out.

Armed only with courage and with the lightsaber that had been his father's, Luke is catapulted into the middle of the most savage space war ever--and headed straight for a desperate encounter on the enemy battle station known as the Death Star. . . .

Challenged by ruthless Imperial bodyguards, death-dealing enemy battleships, merciless bounty hunters, and monstrous brain-eating parasites, Luke Skywalker plunges head-on into a high-stakes espionage operation that will push his abilities as a Rebel fighter and would-be Jedi to the limit.

Han and Leia Solo arrive at Lando Calrissian's Outer Rim mining operation to help him thwart a hostile takeover but soon the stakes are raised and, to save Han -- and the galaxy -- Luke Skywalker and Leia must brave a gauntlet of treachery, terrorism, and the untold power of an enigmatic artifact capable of bending space, time, and even the Force itself into an apocalyptic nightmare.

"It's been three decades since the Rebel Alliance destroyed the Death Star and toppled the Galactic Empire...but now, on the remote planet of Jakku...there is a stirring in The Force. A young scavenger named Rey...a deserting Stormtrooper named Finn...an ace pilot name Poe...and a dark apprentice named Kylo Ren...their lives are about to collide as the awakening begins"--Page 4 of cover.

Tells the complete tale of Grand Moff Tarkin, who guides the creation of the Death Star and paves the way for the Empire's supremacy--and whom even the dreaded Darth Vader obeys.

"One of the most cunning and merciless officers of the First Order, Captain Phasma commands the favor of her superiors, the respect of her peers, and the terror of her enemies. But for all her renown, Phasma remains as virtually unknown as the impassive expression on her gleaming chrome helmet. Now, an adversary is bent on unearthing her mysterious origins-- and exposing a secret she guards as zealously and ruthlessly as she serves her masters. Deep inside the Battlecruiser Absolution, a captured Resistance spy endures brutal interrogation at the hands of a crimson-armored stormtrooper-- Cardinal. But the information he desires has nothing to do with the Resistance or its covert operations against the First Order. What the mysterious stormtrooper wants is Phasma's past-- and with it whatever long-buried scandal, treachery, or private demons he can wield against the hated rival who threatens his own power and privilege in the ranks of the First Order. His prisoner has what Cardinal so desperately seeks, but she won't surrender it easily. As she wages a painstaking war of wills with her captor, bargaining for her life in exchange for every precious revelation, the spellbinding chronicle of the inscrutable Phasma unfolds. But this knowledge may prove more than just dangerous once Cardinal possesses it--and once his adversary unleashes the full measure of her fury."--Amazon.com.

"A young Princess Leia spends her days learning the ways of politics, aiding those in need and preparing for the traditional ceremony in which she declares her intention to one day rule Alderaan. But as Leia prepares herself to be named the heir of the throne, she becomes aware of the growing distance between her and her parents, who behind closed doors are leaders of the newly formed rebellion. Upon learning her parents' secrets, Leia must now make a choice between her responsibility to the people of Alderaan and her responsibility to save a galaxy crushed by the rule of the Empire."-- Publisher's description.

"When Padmé Naberrie, "Queen Amidala" of Naboo, steps down from her position, she is asked by the newly-elected queen to become Naboo's representative in the Galactic Senate. Padmé is unsure about taking on the new role, but cannot turn down the request to serve her people. Together with her most loyal handmaidens, Padmé must figure out how to navigate the treacherous waters of politics and forge a new identity beyond the queen's shadow"-- Provided by publisher.

"When fourteen-year-old Padmé Naberrie wins the election for Queen of Naboo, she adopts the name Amidala and leaves her family to the rule from the royal palace. To keep her safe, she'll need a group of skilled handmaidens who can be her assistants, confidantes, defenders, and decoys. Each girl is selected for her particular talents, but it will be up to Padmé to unite them as a group. When Naboo is invaded by forces of the Trade Federation, Queen Amidala and her handmaidens will face the greatest test-- of themselves, and of each other." -- Amazon.com.

Before he joined the rebellion, before he ran Cloud City, Lando Calrissian made his way in the galaxy getting by on some swindles, some swagger, and a smile. Lobot at his side, Lando has a plan to steal a very valuable ship... but has he bitten off more than he can chew? Writer Charles Soule (Death of Wolverine, Inhuman, She-Hulk) and artist Alex Maleev (Daredevil, Spider-Woman, Moon Knight) bring us the tale of a scoundrel in his natural element -trouble!
